EGH values the uniqueness of culture—from long-standing traditions and cultural dress to places of historical importance—and emphasises respect for the many cultures encountered through travel.
Preserving Sri Lanka’s own traditions also forms part of this approach. EGH aims to create journeys that feel authentically Sri Lankan while respecting the cultural diversity, beliefs and rights of its guests and the communities they visit.
Giving Back to Society
Supporting locals & local economies.
Supporting local communities and businesses is presented as one of EGH’s key objectives. The company aims to help local economies develop through collaboration with communities, businesses and organisations.
The earlier EGH programme also highlights initiatives in Sri Lanka’s dry zones, including the construction of wells in areas where access to water is limited. Alongside community support, EGH seeks to direct tourism towards local enterprises and lesser-known destinations so that tourism can contribute to broader local development.

EGH’s stated policy is that wildlife should be appreciated in natural habitats and treated with respect. Wildlife experiences are therefore framed around observing animals in the wild and allowing travellers to see natural behaviour rather than encouraging cruel treatment.
The company also expresses support for awareness and conservation efforts relating to endangered species, with the wider aim of protecting Sri Lanka’s wildlife heritage for the future.

Reduce environmental impact by using fewer plastic materials and choosing reusable or biodegradable alternatives where practical.
